KADDRO hosts Palina B. Matthíasdóttir, Director for Bilateral Development Cooperation Iceland.

The visit commenced on Thursday May 14th at the KADDRO Headquarters with a briefing session involving the KADDRO Executive Director, management staff, and the Trócaire head of programs and the Lite Salone Project Team, where discussions focused on the project overview, goals, outcomes, implementation progress, key lessons learned, challenges, and next steps toward expanding access to clean and affordable energy solutions for vulnerable communities.

Following the engagement, the delegation visited the Tombowalla and Rokel Communities in Mambolo Chiefdom, where they held community meetings and conducted household visits to gain firsthand insight into the impact of the solar kits on beneficiary households. They also made a brief visit to Tombowalla's wharf to demonstrate the route to riverine communities. The delegation also had a brief stop at Kalainkay to show walkways to the footpath or hard-to-reach communities.

The visit provided an important opportunity for direct interaction with community members, whose testimonies highlighted the positive contribution of the project toward improving access to lighting, enhancing livelihoods, and strengthening household resilience.

Palina and team expressed appreciation for the progress made and were impressed by the impact of the initiative within the communities.

The project is funded by Irish Embassy Sierra Leone, Icelandic Embassy and EU through GIZ implemented by Trocaire, KADDRO, Easy Solar, and Bakarr & Associates
